Job description
Position: Informatics Coordinator
Location: Remote - Providence, RI.
Contract Term: 6 months+
Hours / Week: 35
Responsibilities
• Manage efforts to improve information sharing for transitions of care
• Design workflows and coordinate processes and technical information with IT staff, epidemiology staff, and surveillance staff
• Works with team in the analysis, formulation, development, and delivery of engagement material and results
• Plans, develops, and maintains engagement in public health informatics projects and program plans
• Coordinate technical and business resources to ensure prompt problem resolution and implementation success
• Assess the current state of data and health information systems and services, including data exchange and information systems, to identify opportunities for modernization and interoperability
• Participates in the preparation and submission of grant or other funding opportunity applications or progress reports, including outcome measures
• Assists programs with defining data needs and data collection, leverages new and existing technologies and theories for managing data
• Support the onboarding of healthcare organizations in the use of eCR
• Facilitate the implementation of Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program Requirements
• Collaborates with other staff in the Center for Acute Infectious Disease Epidemiology and other divisions and centers to improve data systems and processes
• Participates in the design, management, use, and evaluation of disease surveillance systems
• Assist with coordination of testing with healthcare organizations and public health jurisdictions to ensure correct data mapping and improved data quality received by RIDOH
• Administer policies and standards that facilitate feature implementation & onboarding of new healthcare partners
• Troubleshoot and track any production issues with the incoming data pipeline.
• Perform technical and business-related research to support health care partner’s needs, assist in the installation/implementation, development, and analysis of materials/ processes/ systems
• Develop processes to work with data senders to resolve message/data completeness, timeliness, quality, and message validation issues identified
• Assist the Informatics team in Department-wide initiatives related to Data, Technology, and Informatics
• Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge and background in public health Informatics, or a related field
• Knowledge and familiarity with HL7, Rational Rhapsody, and electronic laboratory reporting
• Detail oriented
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Excellent communication skills
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, information technology, or a related field plus three (3) years of professional experience in communicable disease or infectious disease surveillance and/or control programs at the local, state, or federal level
• Experience working with public health systems such as electronic disease surveillance system
• Experience in informatics (Required)
• Infectious Disease Surveillance: 3 years (Required)
• HL7 Development: 2 years (Required)
• Relational databases: 3 years (Required)
