The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Workers Compensation, is recruiting for an 

Administrative Assistant 2 located in Juneau!

This position is in the Supervisory Unit (SS) at a Range 14.

What You Will Be Doing:

As the Administrative Assistant 2, you will provide administrative support for the Division, in the areas of payroll, travel, procurement, accounting, financial and personnel management. You will supervise a 6-person administrative team, who provide clerical support to the entire Division.

Our Organization, Mission and Culture:
The Division of Workers’ Compensation is the agency charged with the administration of the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act in a fair and impartial manner to ensure the quick, efficient and predictable delivery of medical and indemnity benefits to injured workers at a reasonable cost to employers and insurance carriers. This position provides mission critical support to the Division in all aspects of administrative functions.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Administrative Assistant 2 position is located in the Department of Labor and Workforce Development building at 1111 W. 8th Ave Ste 305, Juneau, Alaska 99801. The building sits along the Gastineau Channel next to the Sea Walk and Whale Sculpture. The office has a beautiful view of the channel, Mt. Juneau, and offers ample parking.

Who We Are Looking For:

Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement. This experience includes work such as Administrative Assistant 1, Accounting Technician 1, Human Resource Technician 1, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

OR
One year of advanced-level clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

OR
One year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year)

OR
One year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)
