The Software Development Manager reports to the Director of Software Development to assist in the management, development, and deployment of our proprietary software. Duties include managing daily development tasks for our industry leading in-house platforms, manage a multidisciplinary team of software developers, provide vendor support, and manage feedback on business process and application improvements. The position is team oriented and responsible for the coordination and completion of the assigned projects.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise and delegate duties for the designated software development team
- Hire and train new developers
- Coordinate with the Software Architect to create and enforce development standards
- Deliver schedule updates and proposals to upper management
- Create and update roadmaps for the development projects
- Manage vendor accounts
- Monitor infrastructure and 3rd party service expenses for abnormalities and potential cost reduction
- Evaluate development requests for feasibility and development requirements
- Assist with the development and maintenance of application knowledgebases, FAQ's and documentation
- Participate in platform improvement and development scoping exercises
- Participate in resource planning and forecasting to align growth of the team with business goals and objectives
- Execute quality control practices and procedures for all applications and platforms
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Objectives or Goals to Measure Performance: - Successful development and maintenance of projects within SOLV Energy software applications
- Timely responses to support requests and bug reports
- Proactive involvement in scoping new features and functions based on voice of customer feedback
- Promote a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Promote new technology, encourage skill development, and optimize the platforms
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science
- Professional software development experience
- Management experience
- Experience with AWS desired
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Customer escalation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to multi-task between complex projects and operational requests
- Ability to thrive and collaborate in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using task management tools including but not limited to; MS Teams, Smartsheet, or others
