JOB SUMMARY
The Counseling Services Administrator position, at the direction of and in collaboration with the Director of Community Support Services, has the responsibility for oversight and provision of all direct non-residential counseling services to survivors of domestic violence. This position will collaborate closely with the Director of Community Support Services to assist in the development of a safe and confidential atmosphere for all non-residential clients of the YWCA. This position reports directly to and is supervised by the Director of Community Support Services. All positions within the shelter will be trained for answering the hotline, and for coverage of backup shifts.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a master's degree in counseling, psychology, MSW or related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in the field of domestic violence and at least one year's supervisory experience.
- Must have solid knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and trauma.
- Must demonstrate cultural competency in experience or education.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required for this role
- Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
- Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Maintain flexibility in schedule to meet clients' needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for the overall management and development of counseling services for non-residential programs. Supervision of staff providing counseling services.
- Direct supervision and administration of staff providing non-residential counseling services. Liaison/support and coordination with residential counseling staff.
- Responsible for ensuring the following services are provided to non-residential clients: individual counseling, support groups, advocacy, provision of domestic violence information and referrals to outside agencies and refer to other programs within YWCA as appropriate.
- Provide the following direct services: intakes/exit interviews, initial individual counseling sessions (including safety planning, education, assessment for services) and group counseling, client advocacy, referral, and case management as needed.
- Meet walk-in clientele as need
- Ensure all counseling related materials are available in Spanish.
- Responsible for grant management in the form of reporting and statistics for the non-residential counseling program, including report preparation, and assuring that required levels of services are maintained.
- Documentation: maintain case records for individual clients, complete service schedules, and maintain other records as needed; supervise and oversee case records of other counseling staff.
- Participate in supervisory meetings with the Director of Community Support Services.
- Attend monthly staff and other required meetings.
- Complete statistical and narrative reports monthly or as needed.
- Conduct community education/outreach as needed to increase community awareness of domestic violence and YWCA services, and to build community networks.
- Assist in providing technical assistance and/or training to volunteers and other community groups, as needed.
- Assist in updating outreach materials and maintain material for curriculum and procedures.
- Assist in the development and expansion of non-residential counseling program, ensuring that all communities' needs are met in a culturally competent fashion.
- Develop outreach links in order to expand reach of counseling department.
- Collaboration with the leadership team to ensure that program is directed by agency goals and priorities as indicated in the Strategic Plan.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Provide community trainings on domestic violence as needed
- Attend and participate in community and board of director meetings as needed.
- Represent the Agency to other organizations as assigned.
- Represent the YWCA on external committees, as appropriate.
- Participate in agency-wide events and programs.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings on a regular basis.
- All positions will be trained to answer the hotline and for shelter shift coverage.
