Job description
Legal Secretary/Paralegal
We’re seeking a skilled and experienced legal secretary/paralegal to support our growing legal team. The ideal candidate for this position will use their work experience and organizational skills to draft legal documents under the supervision of an attorney, file court papers and mediation documents, draft discovery, interview clients, and conduct some legal research. Responsibilities:
- Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
- Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
- Court filings, preparation of discovery, and communication with court staff and staff for opposing counsel.
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
- Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- At least 5 years of experience in a litigation law firm under the supervision of an attorney.
