Job description
Join the exceptionally talented Creative Team at Walt Disney Games for this unique and exciting opportunity that requires a dedicated and highly motivated Artist to partner with the best game developers in the world to build the next generation of 20th Century Studios Games. The Lead Artist will focus on the creation of visual designs for game development purposes as well as communicating visual feedback and guidance to external developers to ensure our characters, creatures, and worlds are authentic and high-quality.
The Lead Artist will report to the Sr Manager, Creative Content.
This is a Full-Time role.
Must submit a portfolio showcasing Characters, Creatures, and Environments.
Work with external game developers to guide a game's visual progress from concept through to completion.
Provide visual feedback, guidance, and direction to help deliver quality and brand authenticity across all our games in the form of draw-overs, painter-overs, and written notes.
Establish high visual benchmarks and provide recommendations to improve existing designs or executions.
Create and explore visual designs that expand the 20th Century Studios universe including Avatar, Aliens, Predator, etc.
Partner with the Senior Art Director on visual goals, priorities, and individual project progress.
Problem-solve brand/visual design challenges, always working towards improvement of our products, characters, and worlds.
Communicate and collaborate directly with our Production Teams and External Game Studios.
Lead and mentor our talent internal artists for growth and career development.
Required Qualifications & Skills
7+ years experience in film, television, or gaming industry.
Extensive understanding of human and creature anatomy.
Extensive experience in industrial and environment design.
Excellent artistic skills with a particular focus on realism – lighting, materials, shapes, and forms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present feedback and ideas in a compelling, clear, and concise manner.
Self-starter, reliable, and passionate about their work; committed to their discipline and its challenges.
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Maya or any other equivalent 3D software.
Console, PC, or mobile gamer with understanding of the medium.
Broad understanding of game development.
Sci-fi fan a must.

The hiring range for this position in California is $112,100 to $150,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job tags
