The AVP of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) plays a pivotal role in the company, serving as a critical business partner to senior management in each of our market-facing businesses (Retirement and Protection) by delivering deep financial insight to inform strategic and tactical business decisions and playing a central role in the development and execution of the company’s strategic plan.

 

This role demands a strategic thinker with a strong financial, analytic, and interpersonal skill-set, including the ability to: identify business opportunities and risks based on market dynamics and the company’s strengths and weaknesses; link the strategic goals of the business to expectations for financial delivery and resource needs; make recommendations for exploiting opportunities and/or mitigating risks to delivery of the company’s financial plan; collaboratively problem-solve with colleagues at all levels of the organization, including senior management; and develop a team of high-performing financial analysts.

II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Provide strong leadership to a team of highly skilled financial analysts. This includes: setting a vision for the team to aspire to and outlining the specific actions for realizing that vision; cultivating a high-performance culture by providing coaching, mentorship, and opportunities for growth, while holding team members accountable for delivery.

· Partner with senior management in each of our market-facing businesses (Retirement and Protection) on the development of company’s strategy by providing insight that informs the impact of strategic decisions, including research into market dynamics, trends, and opportunities.

· Produce annually the business’ Financial Plan, working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization including senior management, to ensure financial targets reflect the business’ strategy. This includes:

o Setting revenue targets and budgets that reflect the business’ strategic ambition and the resources needed to realize that ambition.

o Developing detailed P&L and Balance Sheet projections for each of our legal entities and for each of our accounting bases (IFRS, US Statutory, Solvency II), including projected dividend capacity by legal entity based on projected capital ratios, available liquidity, and regulatory and counterparty constraints.

o Developing robust sensitivity analyses to inform senior management of potential financial upside from opportunities and potential financial downside from key risks.

o Writing communication materials and completing data templates as required by the Financial Planning process.

· Conduct robust variance/rollforward analyses and update forecasts each month for each of our KPIs and across each of our accounting bases, e.g., IFRS, US Stat, Solvency II.

· Develop and disseminate periodic senior-level financial performance reports, including the monthly update to the company’s parent and quarterly report to the company’s Board of Directors.

· Produce as needed senior-level financial communications, including the annual ratings agency presentation, content supporting the Group’s semi-annual earnings release, and the annual submission of financial plans to regulators.

· Conduct insightful ad-hoc financial analyses as needed to inform business decisions.

· Develop/review business cases for company initiatives/products as needed.

· Serve as a Subject Matter Expert, as needed, for Finance change initiatives.

· All other projects, as assigned.

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 37.5 - 40% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year .
