Job Summary
We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as Senior Operations Manager. You’ll play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations and enforcing safety rules. Other responsibilities include plant maintenance, supervise team members, and make recommendations to improve safety. An ideal candidate will be able to make decisions, have good time management, and organizational skills, be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and are customer focused.
Job Description
- Manage a multi-million-dollar grain operation according to divisional objectives to provide patrons with prompt, courteous and effective service while maintaining the efficiency necessary to achieve a maximum margin of profit.
- Establish and implement a program for the grain operation to include housekeeping, safety, and equipment maintenance to avoid breakdowns and limit safety hazards.
- Work with operation personnel on all safety and compliance issues.
- Educate both employees and patrons in the operations of the cooperative and company business objectives to enhance employee effectiveness and improve member relations.
- Establish and implement short-term goals that are consistent with long range plans for growth in operation, including facility, equipment, and personnel.
- Communicate with location manager and other branch managers and department managers.
- Communicate with supervisor and appropriate divisional personnel (grain marketing, farm supply, credit).
- Utilize personnel and equipment within company to provide excellent customer service and satisfaction.
- Supervise full and part-time operations personnel through responsible training clear job assignment definition and explanation.
- Monitor the work of all employees to correct deficient performance and effectively reward and develop all employees.
- Assist in developing budget & asset needs, manage approved operating budget.
- Work extended hours as needed to meet business needs.
Skills Required
- 2 plus years of supervisory experience.
- Looking for a candidate with Grain/ Elevator experience; Ag background
- Strong communication, leadership, and forward thinking
- Will be a hands-on manager.
- Overseeing the Taylor/ Dickinson terminals
- Will be assisting with dumping trucks, planning employees' days, running samples with probes, positioning incoming trains, forward planning, grain inventory management, assist with PO’s, complete maintenance tasks for the facility, grounds, and train track.
- Ability to work extended hours in season.
- Understand basic business principals of inventory management.
- Agribusiness/Location management experience
- Proven background in leading a successful team.
Education/Training/Certification
- High school diploma or equivalency degree 5 plus years of grain terminal operations experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Agriculture related program.
Additional Requirements
- Hours: Generally, 7am-5pm Monday – Friday except for expended hours when a train arrives. During busy season spring/harvest they can expect additional overtime and working up to 7 days a week.
