The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Transportation Assistant. The Transportation Assistant will function under the Veterans Transportation Service.
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Responsible for determining Veteran eligibility status for BT mileage reimbursement and requests for payment of special mode transportation (ambulance, air ambulance, wheelchair, etc.).
Processes BT mileage reimbursement requests, assigning the correct Fund Control Point (FCP) to each transaction.
Performs BT financial Co-pay tests to determine BT eligibility and notifies Veteran of outcome.
Incumbent serves as a liaison between medical center personnel, Veterans and their representatives requesting transportation, and is responsible for arranging and coordinating, ambulette, ambulance, and airline trips etc., using the most cost-efficient mode to the Government.
Incumbent ensures completion of consults for special mode trips in Computer Patient Record System (CPRS) daily.
Assures all vendors billing information, BT data, and control point obligation data is entered correctly in the pertinent computerized fiscal budget accounts
Reviews documents, reports, and/or application for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
Interacts with various other transportation services such as EMS, Veteran organizations, or County Veteran Service Offices.
The incumbent is responsible for preparing daily manifests of scheduled transports for the VTS program and other vendors supporting the transportation department.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. $42,022 - $54,625 per year (GS-6 pay grade)
