Position: Certified Medical Assistant
Location: North Bergen, NJ
Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a crucial role in providing quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of medical facilities. Working under the direction of healthcare professionals, CMAs perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support the delivery of healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers in performing medical procedures and examinations, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with minor surgeries.
  2. Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records, including documenting patient history, updating medications, and recording test results.
  3. Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and processing insurance forms.
  4. Patient Education: Provide patients with information about their health conditions, medications, and treatment plans, and assist in patient education programs.
  5. Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols, including maintaining cleanliness and sterility in examination rooms and equipment.
  6. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments, and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Medication Management: Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers, including injections, immunizations, and prescriptions.
  8. Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  9. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA regulations, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  10. Professional Development: Stay updated on current medical practices and procedures through continuing education and training opportunities.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of a certified medical assistant program from an accredited institution.
  2. Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized accrediting body, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  3. Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and basic pharmacology.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  5. Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic medical record (EMR) systems and medical billing software.
  6. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  7. Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
  8. Willingness to adhere to strict confidentiality standards and ethical principles.
  9. Flexibility to adapt to changing job duties and responsibilities as needed.
  10. CPR certification may be required, depending on the healthcare setting.
