Your Role The Agile Project Manager, Principal acts as a business and technical initiative leader. In this role, you will partner with the business and technical drivers and product owners/managers to deliver required capabilities, including management of schedule, scope, IT and business resources, financials, benefit tracking, and issue/risk identification and mitigation to ensure successful completion of initiatives. In addition, you will provide direct management of schedule, sprint planning issues/risks, budget, and resources, managing initiatives of $5M+ or larger. With the Owner and Driver, you will define initiative/product delivery governance, product, and Agile team structure. This role tracks initiatives and product capability, and delivery against major milestones, business outcomes, and quarterly key metrics.
The Agile Project Manager, Principal may directly manage or perform duties as a Project Manager, Product Manager, and/or Scrum Master on an initiative.
Your Work In this role, you will:
- Direct large-scale, complex projects at a strategic business level, involving multiple internal and external stakeholders, to ensure initiatives are aligned with Blue Shield of California strategic goals
- Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts
- Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures/related initiatives
- Partner with business/technical sponsors and product owners to define success metrics and criteria
- Manage agile/scrum cross-functional teams and implementing agile methodologies within an IT organization
- Build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles
- Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall and integrated delivery plan
- Determine key business issues, monitoring product roadmaps, developing effective action plans, and implementing delivery of business value
- Plans and implements multiple and extremely complex products, initiatives, and programs spanning business and technical product areas
- Evaluates trade-offs between initiative size, complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value
- Facilitate all operational readiness (business, technical, and operational) activities throughout the lifecycle of projects, including change management activities to support readiness
- Develop cross product interdependency grid to ensure all impacted products are aligned to deliver the overall capabilities required by tracking and monitoring dependencies
Qualifications Your Knowledge and Experience - Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, Master's degree preferred
- Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience delivering Agile initiatives and programs, preferably in healthcare payor environment
- Requires Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid SDLC delivery experience
- Experience with large-scale, enterprise-wide projects with increasing scope and schedule complexity and budget accountability
- Demonstrated leadership on large-scale enterprise-wide projects with over $5M budgets
- Executive level communications and ability to synthesize information required
- Expertise in PlanView, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or similar project management tools
- Must have both business and technology project/program management experience
- Must have experience delivering complex data warehouse and analytics initiatives (Data as a Service experience is a plus)
- Scrum Master certification (CSM) required
- Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) required
- SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certified is a plus
- Agile Product Management experience is a plus
Pay Range: The pay range for this role is: $ 136400.00 to $ 204600.00 for California.
Note: Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.

Due to the current public health emergency in California, Blue Shield employees are almost all working remotely. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
