Job description
Paralegal - Past Rent Collections
Do you love digging into research and helping people? We’re hiring a Paralegal to assist our Collections team in preparing legal documents, filing motions, coordinating law office activity, and conducting legal research. Applicants should be experienced, highly organized professionals with great attention to detail.

Responsibilities:
- Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents
- Locate and communicate with debtors to collect outstanding debts
- Research and analyze debtor financial information to determine the best course of action
- Draft and send collection letters, emails, and legal notices following FDCPA guidelines
- Prepare and file court documents for lawsuits if necessary
- Track case progress, deadlines, and payments
- Maintain accurate and detailed case files
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop collection strategies and resolve disputes
- May assist with skip tracing (locating debtors who have moved without leaving a forwarding address)
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations regarding debt collection
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or paralegal certificate is preferred, but a high school diploma with relevant experience may suffice
- 2-3 years of experience in collections or a legal environment (experience with debt collection laws a plus)
- 2-3 Years of experience in Rental properties, or a real estate environment
- Strong understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulations
- Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills in managing multiple case files
- Proficiency in legal research and case management software
- Strong computer skills with mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Estate Planning experience is a plus
