Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The 988 Project Coordinator facilitates the implementation of the 988 Capacity Grant strategies at the state level through monitoring, reporting and coordination of activities. The 988 Project Coordinator will collaborate and correspond with the 988 SAMHSA Grant Team and key stakeholders and ensure all tasks outlined by the grant are completed by the end of the project period. The 988 Project Coordinator will be responsible for administering and monitoring all SAMHSA and other 988 grants. The incumbent will have experience in developing, implementing and evaluating comprehensive, population-based primary and suicide prevention programming. The 988 Project Coordinator will have demonstrated skills in organizing and managing multiple complex job duties and can effectively communicate orally and in writing. The 988 Project Coordinator will be responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with a number of agencies, stakeholders and organizations including federal, state and community-based, the suicide prevention crisis lifeline, Attorney General's office, and Veteran Service Organizations. The 988 Project Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the requirements of the 988 bill to include oversight and support of the 988 contact centers and participation in the 988-coordinating council.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Program Coordination and Development
- Collaborate and correspond with SAMHSA, the 988 Lifeline Grant Team, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure that all required tasks are completed by the end of the project period.
- Ensure participation in and monthly convening of a 988 key stakeholder coalition group and 988 coordinating council.
- Work with 988 contact centers to ensure training meets certification requirements and addresses needs of special populations.
- Responsible for administrative, fiscal, and oversight of all grants related contracts and agreements.
- Ensure KDADS works in cooperation with the Grantor regarding state and federal 988 and crisis services.
- Develop positive and supportive relationships with community partners including meeting with external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Mobile Crisis Response Coordinator to ensure effective information sharing and communication between crisis and emergency response systems.
- Develop consistent public messaging and education related to 988.
Program Compliance and Improvement
- Conduct ongoing assessments of statewide 988 needs and monitor outcomes of final implementation plan.
- Develop and implement strategies at contact centers in collaboration with the Lifeline and SAMHSA to increase in-state answer rate for 988 calls.
- Comply with the terms of the award and satisfactorily perform activities outlined.
- Respond in a timely manner to requests for information from Grantor, key stakeholders, legislators, and other community partners.
- Submit required monthly, mid-grant and final progress and financial reports.
- Work with Grantor to respond to any performance concerns or complaints in a timely manner.
- Participate in regular monthly support calls with the SAMHSA and all technical assistance webinars.
- Engage with Grantor on media requests or outreach related to the Lifeline or the grants.
Other
Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral or social services, human services, education, public administration, or any combination of experience and education equivalent to three years of experience related to human/social services.
- Knowledge and/or training of evidence-based prevention methods
- Experience in collaborative efforts with other state agencies and community stakeholder groups, developing and writing contracts/grants, developing policies and tracking project outcomes.
- Strong organization skills, effective documentation, technical and concise writing skills and computer skills with word processing, spread sheets, and data entry.
- Must maintain a valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, public health, public administration, sociology, education or other health-related field and/or four years of clinical or suicide prevention experience.
- Experience managing grants and the ability to develop, implement and monitor performance of contractors and grantees
- Ability to identify and analyze problems and to select, implement, and evaluate solutions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
