Job description

Saint George’s School seeks a Middle School Science teacher for the 2024-25 school year. The classes to be taught will include Earth Science and Physical Science. Successful candidates will: demonstrate expertise in their disciplines, love working with adolescents and their parents, have a strong understanding of pedagogy, a desire to collaborate closely with colleagues, an interest in encouraging cross-curricular connections, and an openness toward outdoor experiences with students. Teachers at Saint George’s model life-long learning.

Responsibilities:
• Teach students in grade 7/8, with potential to teach Upper School classes
• Prepare for and facilitate science classes for students in grades 7-8
• Develop mentoring relationships with students
• Provide a class experience that matches the school culture of developing each student’s talents
• Provide feedback to students and families in a timely manner
• Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings
• Academic advising of students with daily study hall/tutorial
• Other related duties as assigned

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, Administration, and members of the SGS community

• Have a positive attitude and a sense of humor

Qualifications required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Education from an accredited college or university.

Qualifications preferred:
• 3 years of experience
• Valid Teaching Certificate preferred
• Master’s degree in Science or Education from an accredited college
• Technical proficiency with an interest in utilizing, where appropriate, 1:1 school provided student laptops (research, organization, Microsoft suite, or other programs to further and support student learning)
