Parker Meggitt Simi Valley Fire, Safety, and Power Division site is a fully integrated location with product responsibility from Marketing and Engineering through Supplier Management, Program Management, and Manufacturing, ending with delivery to the customers.
Parker Meggitt is a worldwide leader in multiple Commercial and Military Aerospace product lines, including Fire and Smoke Detection and Extinguishing systems, Bleed Air Overheat detection systems, Actuators, Rudder Pedal Assemblies, Pumps, Fuel Gauging Systems, High-Temperature cables, and more.
Parker Meggitt – Simi Valley, CA is also a key supplier to select Energy markets, including Nuclear gas Analyzers and Nuclear containment vessel penetration Cables. We work directly with the largest global aerospace companies, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Lockheed Martin, and many others.
Job Designation
The Procurement Manager leads the staff and the procurement activities within a business unit.
Plans, coordinates, and directs various complex procurement and material processes from the initial proposal efforts through the delivery of the end product.
Ensures that the procurement procedures are in compliance with government laws (domestic/international), regulations, and management objectives.
Job Core Responsibilities
Manages supplier cost, quality, and delivery, driving resolution within the site team and, where necessary, escalating for additional support; implement actions to resolve supplier non-conformance issues. Supports sourcing of new products and new product introduction activities in line with Meggitt policies, processes, and strategy as assigned. Organizes, directs and implements cost-reduction activities to ensure maximum return to the division for minimum expenditures
Implements processes to manage risk within the supply chain and monitors procurement procedures to comply with government laws (domestic/international), regulations, and company policy
Manages contractual differences between purchase order requirements and supplier performance; establishes contractual obligations, while ensuring compliance with laws and truth in negotiations
Raises orders and expedite deliveries to support site manufacturing needs; support and implement inventory reduction actions to meet inventory goals. Participates in site-specific procurement and supplier quality development when required including but not limited to when materials or services procured are unique to the site or to support new program introduction. Monitors the changing marketplace and work-around plans to avoid negative impact on corporate cost and delivery performance objectives
Plans tactics and strategies for negotiations of subcontracts to maintain expenditures within program material budget limitation
Develop and deploy (in conjunction with Division and group teams) Procurement processes and practices to drive continuous improvement and aligned activities across Meggitt.
Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs
Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
Other responsibilities as assigned
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required.
May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications
Education: Bachelor's degree is required
Year’s Experience: min 7 years of experience in manufacturing and supply chain
Required Skills:
Excellent facilitation and project management skills with the ability to lead the procurement team and drive tasks to completion
Knowledge of procurement best practices and experience with managing tight development program deadlines in aerospace/manufacturing environment
Understanding of contracts, compliance, and government laws (domestic/international) relating to procurement
Experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success negotiating with a variety of suppliers
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to drive tasks to completion
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools
Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $99K-150K
WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Resident is required for most positions.
