Description:

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator organizes, distributes, and verifies the work of others and participates in their training. The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator also maintains, updates, and verifies the accuracy of records and ensures the processing and forwarding of merchandise. They are also responsible for preparing merchandise to be returned to suppliers or delivered to customers, as well as handling all claims and queries with suppliers, freight companies, and internal managers..

• Verifies all incoming shipments for correct packing slip, bill of lading information and visible damage. Communicates and follows up on discrepancies with suppliers, freight companies, and

customers. Communicates with others to ensure shipping-related problems are resolved.

• Ensures that merchandise is processed, including labeling and pricing, and forwarded to appropriate sales and storage areas.

• Arranges for merchandise to be returned to suppliers or delivered to customers. Arranges for best method of transport. Ensures shipping documents are complete.

• Prepares activity report for Supervisor regarding the operations of the area. Ensures all relevant files are maintained and organized.

• Calculates estimated cost associated with the shipping/delivery function and recommends appropriate alternatives.

• Ensures the cost-effectiveness of the department with the control of labor utilizations – preventing excess hours, downtime and overtime, and efficient usage of transportation-related equipment.

• Promotes safety policy within the department.

• Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement from within the department and company.

• Follows ISO processes and makes recommendations for improvement when applicable.

• Maintains communication with the direct lead and other project team members.

• Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities that may be assigned at any time.
