Job description
Emergency One is looking to hire Full Time Medical Assistants. Requirements
The Medical Assistant will perform skills, per established standards and policies of Emergency One Urgent Care and Occupational Health Center, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, LPN, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant and/or Physician.
Essential Functions: - Obtains and inputs data in to EMR; the patient's chief complaint, symptoms, length of symptoms, where the injury occurred, medications, PFSH, medical history, ROS, allergies, etc.
- Obtains vital signs on admission in accordance with present illness and/or accident.
- Recognizes and communicated pertinent observations to physician in a timely fashion.
- Assists with and/or performs skills for which she/he has been prepared for.
- Obtains, handles and labels all specimens appropriately.
- Maintains EMR to accurately reflect observations, interventions, treatments, procedures and patient's response to same.
- Checks each patient room for supplies an writes on white board when supplies need to be ordered.
- Obtains pertinent data in regards to physical exams and checks to see that all criteria are met and documented correctly.
- Demonstrates an awareness of cost containment and economical use of supplies.
- Has knowledge of blood borne pathogens and adheres to universal precaution protocol.
- Can access and identify Material Safety Data Sheet information.
- Maintains updated PPD and Hepatitis B and provides documentation of the same.
- Can perform point of care testing (strep, mono, U/A, HCG, flu, COVID) accurately in accordance with CLIA guidelines and can do QA as directed.
- Relays and receives necessary information to and from involved associations (i.e. lab, radiology providers, physician offices, hospitals) to provide quality patient care.
- Utilizes correct channels of communication
- Shares knowledge by participating in orientation of new employees and on-going in-services.
- Performs phlebotomy to obtain labs as requested and prepares specimens for lab.
Experience: Medical Assistant experience is not required; some health care experience is a plus.
Education: Medical Assistant Certification is not required. A High School Diploma is required.
Job Type: Full Time, 12 hour shifts and 8 hour shifts, includes weekends.
Pay: $17-$19 per hour
