This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time, seasonal (May – September) Biological Science Research Technician 2 position for the HERS Lab at Big Hole National Battlefield National Park.
The Oregon State University HERS Lab is working with the National Park Service Upper Columbia Basin Inventory and Monitoring Network ( UCBN ) and Big Hole National Battlefield to hire one Biological Field Research Technician 2 to support NPS vegetation management objectives at Big Hole National Battlefield ( BIHO ).The BSRT will largely work independently with assistance from individuals dependent upon project tasks. The BSRT will identify, map, treat, follow up, and report on invasive species control efforts in BIHO , in addition to collecting native seed for restoration efforts to be used after control treatments have been implemented.
They will follow best management practices associated with B. tectorum and C. stoebe control. Herbicide applications will be made following all NPS and product label safety guidelines.
The BSRT will be embedded with NPS vital signs monitoring teams and will assist visiting Rocky Mountain Exotic Plant Management teams, acting as a park liaison and ensuring that park, I&M, and EPMT efforts are highly coordinated and synergistic. The position will be located at Big Hole National Battlefield (on-site housing provided) and is expected to last approximately 5 months (May-September).
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science) and one year of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Research Technician 1 level; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.Type:
Field work will be completed outdoors and will entail driving to and from field sites accessed via foot travel over rugged terrain. Field work is often performed during high temperatures in a dry environment with limited access to freshwater. Variable and inclement weather common to the Intermountain West is common occurrence while in the field.
