Job description
Etto, located in the heart of the busy 14th Street corridor/Logan Circle, is looking for a General and/or Assistant Manager to join our team! Our wood-burning oven, Neapolitan-style pizzas, in-house flour mill, and seasonally rotating small plates are a few of our many special characteristics that make us a unique and exciting place to work. You will be able to participate in plenty of wine, cocktail, and food menu tastings as well as join a friendly team who pride themselves on working well together.
What we are looking for:
- An energetic and kind person with a passion for craft cocktails and food and beverage knowledge. Our ideal candidate will become a key contributor to our unique cocktail program that specializes in local and Italian spirits, yet has a strong knowledge of the classics.
- Ability to lead and work with a team, as well as adaptability, flexibility, and be able to work independently. Etto is a small place and we all pitch in--no task is too small and providing mutual support is a must.
- A love of wine, with specific knowledge of Italian and French regions a plus.
- Two years of bar experience in a fast paced environment as well as serving experience.
- Proficiency with the Square POS a bonus but not required.
- Ability to obtain an ABRA Manager and food handlers' license if you do not already have one.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, with minimal oversight, front of house staff and customer needs, including complaints and other issues that may arise.
- Maintaining our beverage program including ordering, designing beverages that vary seasonally, and maintaining the beverage menu.
- Provide front of house staff with updates and training on daily food and beverage menu changes.
- Set up and bre ak down of the bar area, including preparation for the day's drinks.
- Hiring and training new staff.
- Ability to handle cash drawer and closing reports, review inputs to bi-weekly payroll.
- Physically able to lift and move wine and spirit cases.
