Job description

Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative is currently seeking applicants for the position of Communications Specialist working primarily out of the Southport, FL office.

A Bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, journalism or similar field is preferred, but not required. Experience in a public relations/ communications position is also preferred.

Applicants should submit writing samples with resume if available.

The primary duties of this position will be:

• Develop and convey information helpful to our members, employees, and the general public through all available avenues of the media (advertising, employee newsletter, member monthly magazine, news releases, social media accounts, trade publications and cooperative website).
• Create a presence of the cooperative within the community through various outreach and charitable activities.
• Support a positive working environment by assisting with the coordination of various events designed to promote teamwork and morale.
