Summary
The Motorsport Design Engineer will apply excellent engineering practices to mechanical system design using CAD modeling software. The individual will support NASCAR and ARCA Race Engine programs and be responsible for product creation from start to end with excellent engineering theory/practice.
Essential Duties - Design unique engine components using CAD software
- Generate well engineered, creative, cost-effective and manufacturable design solutions
- Proven design abilities in the area of internal combustion engine component design
- Excellent understanding of common manufacturing methods and application
- Typical components that would be designed may include – Pistons, air flow path components, cranktrain components, valvetrain components etc.
- Liaison with operations to take designs from concept to completion, including drawing creation, design review / changes, manufacturing feasibility and inspection requirements
- Optimize design alternatives for various attributes, including performance, mass, packaging, quality, benchmarking, geometry creation and functional analysis
- Ensure Part Drawings comply with GD&T standards
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a design engineer capacity
- Proficient in Solidworks
- Demonstrated innovative spirit
- Honest individual with determination and motivation to meet tight deadlines
- Mechanical aptitude/capability
- Proficient in GD&T
- Excellent communication skills with a team player mentality
This job is to be performed on-site and is based out of Plymouth, Michigan.
