The opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Payroll Operations, the Associate Director, Payroll Operations will oversee all payroll functions for Ireland and the United States. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, tax and benefit processing while adhering to the local policies, regulations, and compliance requirements within their mandate. The Associate Director will actively lead and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of payroll systems, policies, procedures, and leads the best practices and continuous improvement activities in collaboration with partners and stakeholders. This position will also be accountable for supporting all payroll-related audits, vendor management, reporting, and payroll related escalations.
How you will contribute:
Manage and lead a team of 5-7 payroll specialists supporting over 6,000 employees in the U.S. and Ireland including development and performance management
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and delivery of the organization’s payroll
Lead year-end processes including employee tax slips, forms and submission of government filings within established deadlines
Ensure payroll functions adherence to local policies, regulations, and compliance requirements
Act as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders (Tax, Legal and HR) and external consultants in developing tax strategies that align to business strategic objectives and in compliance with local Municipal, State and Federal tax and reporting regulations
Monitor US/Ireland employment tax regulation requirements through strategic relationships with payroll tax service providers, authorities, agencies vendors/external stakeholders and provide updates and make recommendations for changes to tax positions to business stakeholders (Tax, Legal, HR)
Support all internal and external payroll related reporting requests
Ensure standardizations across countries and conduct periodic payroll controls to ensure all payroll process documentations are maintained and updated
Support all payroll initiatives as required including transformation of the function
Build and maintain excellent working relations with internal stakeholders and vendors for all payroll related activities and improvements
Acts as the main point of contact for the Tier 2 support for all payroll related inquiries for the US and Ireland
Support all internal and external audits, and SOX reviews
Ensure accurate maintenance and controls for payroll data recording keeping
Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives
What you will bring with you:
Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Excellent knowledge of US and Ireland Payroll processes, taxations, experience with ADP GlobalView and/or other payroll systems
Experience in payroll accounting (general ledger entries, reconciliations, etc.) and Financial systems (Oracle, etc.)
Service-orientation and high degree of client focus, ability to lead change and engage, develop and motivate teams
Ability to prioritize and support multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines, leveraging data analytics insights to drive action
Strong process improvement and change management skills
Able to work in a fast-paced, high volume setting in our growing company.
Proven leadership capability and strong results orientation
Strong coaching and performance management skills
Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources or related field
Payroll designation or another formal payroll training would be an asset
Minimum of 10+ years HR and 7+ years progressive payroll experience in a management role, including supervision of staff
Experience with Agile & Design thinking & process improvement methodologies and knowledge of the full project life cycle is an asset
