Responsibilities
Working under a "Supervisory Arrangement" with a NC licensed physician employed by Harnett Health System, the advanced practice provider provides quality clinical care to patients of all ages in an ambulatory care setting. Diagnoses illness, prescribes and administers treatment for patients suffering from injury or disease. Provides appropriate preventive and health maintenance care, including patient and family education. Requests appropriate laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures; reads and interprets results accurately, and implements an appropriate plan for care. Prescribes and follows up on medications and medical devices, treatments, or other procedures under the direction of the supervising physician or back-up supervising physician. Performs clinical procedures appropriate for a clinic setting based on training, demonstrated competence, and consensus of the supervising physician. Creates timely, accurate documentation in the medical record of patient history, findings from physical examination, test results, diagnosis, plan of care, treatment, and outcome. Adheres to the supervisory arrangement established by the supervising physician. Shares after-hours telephone call with other providers working in the group. Education Requirements/Licensure/Certification Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies, with a Master's Degree preferred, from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or its predecessor or successor agencies. If licensed in North Carolina after June 1, 1994, physician assistant must have successfully completed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. Current BLS certification for infants, children, and adults is also required.Job tags
