The School Fiscal Services Division (SFSD) of the California Department of Education (CDE) is the right team for you. Under the direction of the Director of the School Fiscal Services Division and in coordination with the Administrator of the Office of Fiscal Oversight & Support, the Administrator is responsible for evaluating and improving the financial reporting system, including developing policies and procedures required for the comprehensive fiscal management and control of K-12 education funds in California public school and the annual deployment of the Standardized Account Code Structure (SACS) Web-based software. This position ensures fiscal solvency and accountability at the local level, working toward improving the financial stability and management practices of school districts and county offices of education. Duties include but are not limited to:
Directs the annual development and maintenance of the SACS web-based software used by LEAs to develop annual budgets and interim financial reports and submit year-end financial data to CDE. Serves as SFSD's liaison with the external software development team, determines and prioritizes SACS workload priorities, oversees the development of software changes orders, and alpha and beta testing to ensure accuracy of the software prior to deployment to LEAs. Develops, reviews, and edits user training materials and provides user training on the SACS web software.
Using the information collected from the local educational agencies (LEAs), supervises the production of a variety of reports for use by the federal government, state control agencies, as well as by the LEAs for making management information decisions: federal special education maintenance of effort (MOE), Every Student Succeeds Act MOE, National Public Education Fiscal Survey, Teacher Salary surveys, Report on Lottery Expenditures for K-12 Education.
Provides advice and assistance to administrators in school districts and county offices of education in all areas of school district accounting, budgeting, and reporting, and in issues of fiscal accountability and fiscal management practices.
