Job Summary
Walt Disney Imagineering is building a new A.I Character Studio to allow Guests and our beloved characters to share new interactive experiences and stories. The team is comprised of a cross-disciplinary group of designers, writers, artists, and software engineers. Its charter includes developing a robust and scalable entertainment platform supporting interactive character experiences with up to millions of concurrent users. The studio develops mobile, VR, AR, Mixed Reality, and custom physically situated applications built on a core platform, independently and in partnership with 3rd party developers.


The Role
We are seeking a Creative Production & Operations Intern with organizational and tactical skills to assist in producing engaging and immersive experiences based around the emerging A.I. storytelling /entertainment artform. The intern will support the creative development process, working with conversation designers, artists, creative technologists, and sound designers as well as the AI Character technical platform team to turn early visions into guest-facing experiences! The Creative Production & Operations Intern will not only support the on time and on budget production experience, but also help ensure a stable, productive, innovative and fun work environment along the way. Top candidates are open-minded, highly collaborative, extremely organized and efficient, from beginning to end of the production process. Members of the new A.I. Character Studio are expected to thrive in a fast-paced environment where ambiguity and building things from zero to one are the norm.


Responsibilities
• Help to balance scope, schedule and budget on a small to mid-scale project, including creating & maintaining estimates, forming & adjusting schedules, and building & restructuring resource plans, to accurately inform project needs for production.
• Assist with ensuring a stable process for the creation of character encounters that are immersive, authentic, and consistent across a diverse set of topics, conversational paradigms, and guest responses.
• Support the distinct phases of an AI character project from concept to launch to ensure production advances and accomplishes the creative vision. 
• Work closely with a variety of disciplines, including Creative Directors, Writers, Experience Designers, Software Developers, Audio Engineers, Artists, Animators, and other production stakeholders to create a cohesive experience.
• Collaborate with team leads to prioritize short-term and long-term objectives.
• Support organizing the day-to-day assignments and responsibilities of AI Creative Team to ensure deadlines are met and milestones are accomplished. 
• Track the status and risk levels of a project throughout production and provide clear project updates to all levels within the organization.
• Work with talent directors and IP-partners on casting and scheduling of talent, as well as managing corresponding legal agreements.
• Support balanced decision-making and mediate competing needs.
• Assist with managing creative contracts, communication requests, and special projects.


Basic Qualifications
• Interest in storytelling through character-based experiences, including games, animated film / TV, or themed entertainment.
• Exposure to speech, language, and voice recognition technologies
• Ability to organize and produce interactive experiences across a variety of digital platforms.
• Experience working with newly developed or in-production technical tools, where creative insight is required to contribute to development.
• Project management, story development, or production experience within Narrative Game Design, Animation, Television, or Theatre
• Ability to manage & prioritize multiple assignments for various disciplines in a highly dynamic production environment.


Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to building experiences for existing voice-based assistant platforms such as Alexa Skills, Google Home, or creating narrative scripting for interactive experiences or games.
• Exposure to producing interactive experiences for multi-platform entertainment.
• Experience working with voice-over actors and other talent.


Required Education
Currently working toward or recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in game design, film, business, creative writing, communications, linguistics, or psychology.


Eligibility
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
 Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
 Be at least 18 years of age
 Possess unrestricted work authorization
 Have not yet completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Disney College Program


Additional Information
 The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2024 through August/September 2024.
 Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Glendale, CA area*
 Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
