Corporate Legal Counsel

Goya Foods, Inc., the premier source for authentic Latino cuisine, and the largest Hispanic privately-owned food company in the United States, is seeking an attorney with significant in-house or law firm business and transactional experience for its growing legal department based in Jersey City, NJ.

The ideal generalist candidate should have preferably at least ten (10) years of business law and transactional experience and be able to contribute to the overall success of the business as a strategic business advisor, problem solver and decision maker focused on achieving corporate goals. This is an important serious management role with career advancement potential within the company.

Relevant experience, abilities, and skills should include the following:

• Advising and counseling senior management on an array of legal, corporate, governance, business, risk, and compliance matters with the gravitas and good business judgment of a senior executive member of the executive leadership team.
• Collaborating with senior management on a variety of transactions, projects and agreements including letters of intent/term sheets, planning, and assisting with due diligence, drafting and negotiating agreements, and actively managing transaction process, diligence, integration, and execution.
• Working with and managing outside counsel and other professional service providers on a variety of legal, business, and commercial matters, and with defending the company's interests on disputes and claims made against the company.
• Admitted to practice law, and in good standing, in New Jersey or New York.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as a team member within groups.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications & Skills

Labor, employment, and privacy law experience are also a plus.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, qualifications, education, and other job-related reasons.

Good Faith Estimate of Salary Range: $250,000 - $300,000.
