Knack Works (a Subsidiary of Jacobs) is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team on-site in Northern Virginia. This is the perfect opportunity for a system administrator to apply their wealth of Linux experience to a challenging, senior level role. In this position, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for Linux environments. You will perform installations, solve system issues, and make sure all compliance guidelines for workstations are being met. You will also have the opportunity to partner with a growing, fast-paced and motivated team.
Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for Linux environments
- Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and software packages
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues
- Utilize Kubernetes for container and container orchestration
- Python and Bash script development
- Utilize OS configuration management tools
- Conduct hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Active TS/SCI w/POLY
- BA/BS Business Information Technology, BA/BS Computer Science, BA/BS Computer Engineering
- 8+ years relevant technical experience
- Must be willing to work on-site in Northern Virginia
- System administration experience in highly secure Linux environments
- Experience with OS configuration management tools
- Experience with containers and container orchestration using Kubernetes
- Experience with KVM-based virtualization solutions, such as oVirt/Red Hat Virtualization (RHV)
- Extensive experience with Python and Bash scripting
- Proficiency with Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment) frameworks
- Experience with cloud platforms
Desired Requirements:
- Puppet and/or Ansible experience
- AWS cloud platform experience
