The Process Control Engineer holds responsibility for overseeing the control system equipment, system software, and application software governing the process. This role collaborates with operational departments to implement control strategies for new process equipment, modifies/enhances controls on existing process equipment, and works with maintenance personnel and operations to troubleshoot and resolve issues with process equipment, ensuring adherence to specified limits.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design and execute process control strategies, encompassing regulatory control, control sequence, logic, and advanced control for continuous and batch processes.
- Develop, modify, and enhance Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Monitor control system performance, conducting loop analysis and tuning.
- Introduce new control system technology.
- Support process troubleshooting by pinpointing sources of process upsets and anomalies.
- Develop and maintain alarm systems.
- Provide support for capital projects, including developing project justifications and managing related process control sub-projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who Will Be a Great Fit?
SKILLS:
- Solid understanding of industrial process fundamentals.
- Proficiency with instrumentation and electrical systems associated with process control systems.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
- High competency in data analysis and utilization of process data historians like OSI PI or Capstone ParcView.
- Ability to interpret P&ID drawings, loop sheets, and motor elementaries, and generate these drawings as needed using AutoCAD or equivalent tools.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3 - 8 years of experience in process control; familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), particularly Honeywell Experion or TDC, and experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) such as Allen Bradley ControlLogix is advantageous.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Pulp/Paper Science).
