Summary:

This is an internship designed to introduce you to the world of merchandising. The successful applicant will support the Merchandising Team with various tasks from new product implementations and market research to running and building reports. This internship will give you the opportunity to contribute meaningful ideas to the team, culminating in a final presentation to senior management. The Merchandising Intern should be extremely hard working and resourceful, organized, and creative. They should be ambitious and committed to Blick and our customer base, continuously striving to improve internal processes and customer service.

Major Position Responsibilities:
• Assist Category Manager in sourcing, reviewing, and developing new product
• Conduct market research to identify potential product trends and opportunities
• Analyze sales data to identify areas of growth and improvement
• Send, collect, and process product information sheets (Product Setup Cards) from vendors

• Work with Category Manager in documenting vendor meetings and appropriate follow up
• Manage samples; incoming requests from vendors & outgoing to Art Department and outlet store
• Continually monitor website for accuracy
• Other assignments and report building, as needed

Required skills and experience:

• Currently enrolled or recently graduated in a Bachelor’s degree program in a related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail orientated and analytical
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint is a plus, but not required
• Interest in or knowledge of the arts, art education, or art materials a plus.
