Internship Description:
The Conservation Intern will work with the South Carolina Aquarium's conservation team to connect people with water, wildlife, and wild places beyond the walls of the Aquarium. The intern will engage with community members and partners to address one or more of the following institutional priorities: plastic pollution, community resilience in relation to climate change and sea level rise, and sustainable seafood. Interns will learn about collecting and using environmental data to help raise awareness and advocate for change. As final projects, the intern will organize and lead a group litter sweep in their community (campus club, church group, or other), and conduct a litter data analysis for a specific area and present findings by writing a Letter to the Editor, provide testimony at a city council meeting, or contacting a state representative.
The intern will work both on and offsite, and will have regular interaction with conservation staff, both in person and virtually.
