We are currently searching for a dedicated Tooling Estimator to join our team.
(Formerly known as Thomas Engineering Company was founded in 1962) Now called R&M High Speed Stampings. Our 90,000 sq. ft. manufacturing building is located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. We specialize in high-quality, close-tolerance micro-miniature top medium sized metal stampings and assemblies to a wide range of industries and markets. We offer rapid prototyping, tool design and construction, ranging from simple stamping dies to complex progressive stamping and forming dies.

What is a Tooling Estimator ?
A tooling estimator is responsible for assessing and estimating the costs associated with tooling and manufacturing processes. This role involves analyzing project specifications, materials, and production requirements to determine the expenses involved in creating the necessary tools, dies, molds, and other equipment.
In this role, you will:
Read and interpret blueprints and die designs
Work from verbal and written instructions from designers
Must be able to discuss processes with designers to develop the best die plan
Plan the set up and machine operations for producing all the parts required for the project
Work with other departments to ensure good workflow through the shop
Schedule work through both CNC and WEDM
Spot check all parts before they are sent out for heat treatment for accuracy and completeness
Work with press room personnel to do tool try outs for qualifications and part development
Adjust tooling as required
Do first article inspections on parts from die using tool room inspection equipment
Keep a clean and safe working environment in the shop area
Perform maintenance on older production tooling that we run in our Stamping Dept.
To succeed in this role, you must:
Have a high degree of precision and control with all machine tools that are manually operated
Be able to measure accurately with hand tools and height gages
Be able to multitask several jobs at once
Perform data entry into our data collection system
Work with a high degree of accuracy and completeness
Have experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
