Job description
Educational Service Unit 5, Beatrice, NE, is accepting applications for Special Education Director effective the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates must possess or be eligible to hold a valid teaching certificate with an appropriate endorsement issued by the Nebraska Department of Education.
In this position you will serve as the Special Education Supervisor for school districts located in the ESU 5 service area of Gage, Jefferson and Thayer Counties. Officing out of Educational Service Unit 5 located in Beatrice, NE, you will serve as the expert in special education policy and procedures to ensure adherence to state and federal mandates by member school district Superintendents, Principals and Resource teachers. As the special education leader you will be expected to keep current with special education program trends by attending conferences and other professional development activities. You will supervise and evaluate the ESU 5 special education program and itinerate staff located in the ESU 5 office and across the member districts.
Additionally, The Special Education director should possess and exhibit characteristics of cooperation, organization, dependability, integrity, concern for others, adaptability, initiative and independence as you work with member schools, the community, parents and the leadership team at Educational Service Unit 5.
