So, what will a Primary Care Physician at Terrestris do?

You will provide comprehensive and compassionate primary care services to veterans at the Fayetteville, NC VA Medical Center. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough medical examinations, diagnosing and treating a variety of health conditions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the holistic well-being of your patients. You will actively engage in preventive care measures, health education, and chronic disease management to enhance the overall health of the veteran population. Additionally, you will foster a patient-centered approach, ensuring effective communication and building trust with veterans to create a supportive healthcare environment. What does a typical day look like for a Primary Care Physician look like?

You will:

• Start your day by reviewing patient charts and medical histories to prepare for scheduled appointments.
• Conduct routine physical exams and assess patients' overall health, addressing any immediate concerns or chronic conditions.
• Engage in patient consultations, discussing symptoms, treatment options, and developing personalized care plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, specialists, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Spend time addressing preventive care measures, emphasizing wellness, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
• Manage and adjust medications as needed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to treatment plans.
• Participate in team meetings and case reviews to discuss complex cases and share insights with colleagues.
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record system.
• Respond to messages and inquiries from patients, addressing concerns and providing medical guidance.
• Stay informed about the latest medical research, guidelines, and VA policies to enhance the quality of care provided to veterans.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the leader we're looking for if you have:

• Completion of an accredited medical school leading to either a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a related primary care specialty.
• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine by a recognized medical board, such as the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
• A valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of North Carolina.
• Registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to prescribe controlled substances.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in primary care, preferably in a similar setting or with a focus on veteran healthcare.
• BLS/ACLS Certification.
• A clean and active medical license with no history of disciplinary actions by medical boards.
