Initially, this position is currently expected to be hybrid model, with on-site at Evommune HQ 2-3 days a week and the remaining time working remotely and collaborating via Zoom. The Scientist/Senior Scientist will be responsible for scientific management of our internal and external medicinal chemistry programs, vendors and collaborators. The position will report to the Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry and represents a unique opportunity to join an innovative biotech start-up to develop novel therapeutics to meet currently unmet medical needs.
THE POSITION
Scientist/Senior Scientist
Evommune is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic Scientist/Senior Scientist to support the research and development of small molecule drug candidates. This role is critical to our mission, initially will be non-lab based and will involve managing critical aspects of the discovery process from screening through early development.
Responsibilities
- Generation and interpretation of medicinal chemistry data, rational design of novel compounds and presentation of progress to the wider organization
- Collaborate with extended team to to provide scientific/technical contributions and build skillset in SAR hypothesis, data modelling, and compound library design.
- Managing external synthetic chemistry operations at CRO; ensuring compounds are synthesized, characterized and shipped efficiently
- Registration of compounds, gate-keeping in vitro pharmacology and ADME database, formulating and sharing data across the team
- Work cross functionally with in vitro biologists to manage compound library and assay formatting of samples
Qualifications
- PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry, 2-7 years of experience- preferably in pharma/biotechnology
- Ability to demonstrate broad understanding of toolbox synthetic reactions and to troubleshoot chemistry challenges.
- Understanding of contemporary medicinal chemistry practices, such as primary, functional assays, ADME, PK etc. and how these factors correlate to physicochemical properties
- Experience with ELN and Cloud database platforms, large sets of data and basic computational chemistry spreadsheet operations such as sdf files, SMILEs etc.
- Work in cross-functional teams and contributes scientific insights to individual programs
- Strong planning, organization and prioritization skills with flexibility to adapt to changes
