POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commissions Processor is responsible for delivering field agent commissions on time, with accuracy, while proactively analyzing and solving issues as they arise. The Commissions Processor will also be responsible for delivering weekly reconciliation of life insurance commission statements and loading the results into the company's proprietary back-office agency payment system, preparing statements for the appropriate accounts, conducting research and analysis on ad-hoc matters, and preparing drafts of any analysis for review by the Director of Finance.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Commissions Processor's day begins with retrieving commission statements from our Insurance Carrier partners, and loading them into our agency management systems - this is a manual process that in the process of being automated. During the loading process, some records may "reject" and the Commissions Processor has to solve the problem by finding out why and resolving the issue so the agent effected can still get paid. Once issues are resolved, the Commissions Processor tests the data, and submits it for payment. Depending on the carrier and volume, this could take all day, or just a few hours. The other hours are filled with researching outstanding issues related to commissions, and other ad hoc requests from management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure the accurate calculation and processing of all commissions for commission-eligible agents in a timely and accurate manner while making sure that appropriate checks and balances are in place.
• Review commission calculations to ensure accuracy prior to upload into payment system in time for each weekly payment cycle/close.
• Responsible for making certain that all calculations adhere to the appropriate commission structures for each agent. This requires quick learning and mastering the Company's agent compensation plan.
• Serve as the first point of contact when agents have questions regarding commission payments.
• Proactively troubleshoot and identify issues and correct as needed.
• Establish and maintain a good working relationship within the department and the field insurance agents.
• Analyze commissions and processes by developing MS Excel spreadsheet tools to meet the need.
• Streamline accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 3 years of sales revenue analysis/commissions processing experience with a company of at least $10M in revenue
• Undergraduate degree in Business strongly preferred
• Deep knowledge of MS Excel - especially data manipulation (SORT, VLOOKUP, CHART, etc.).
• Organized, self-starter; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Highly accountable; takes ownership and drives sense of urgency
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
• High attention to detail under deadlines
• Strong work ethic with brisk pace
• Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build strong relationships across HQ and field teams
• Excellent written & oral communication skills: clear, concise and complete
• Expert literacy in spoken and written English
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus
• Learns quickly and proactively
