Who are we

Dr. Chang’s lab in the department of Neurology at the University of Arizona is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop novel therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. Chang lab is well funded by NIH for developing novel treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, healthy aging, and cancer using the most cutting-edge integrated approaches driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and wet lab benchwork.

Position description

The successful applicant will work as a member of a collaborative research team to develop potential drugs using state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo methodologies. This project involves both human brain cell models and animal models of Alzheimer’s disease. Research will also require development of in vitro assays, co-culture and/or brain organoid and in vivo experimental paradigms as warranted by progress on the project, a willingness to work collaboratively with both bench and computational scientists, preparation of research results for publication in top-tier peer reviewed journals and presentation of data at scientific meetings. The position will also involve research mentorship of graduate students and/or undergraduate research assistants. An extensive working experience in neurodegenerative diseases and/or neuropharmacology as well as animals’ models, and a background in neurobiology/molecular biology is preferred. Previous experience with in vivo models of Alzheimer’s disease, genetic approaches (i.e., siRNA, CRISPR/Cas9), iPSC-derived CNS cell co-cultures and/or brain organoid, and microscopy is preferred. Experience with animal behavior is a plus. Previous working experience with Mesoscale Discovery (MSD) assay is strongly appreciated.
