Job description
The Lutheran Home is looking for an Assistant Kitchen Manager with a passion for the culinary arts and an understanding of sanitary guidelines to help lead, delegate, guide and educate our team to provide excellence in dining service for the residents in our health center.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: - Oversees quality food production for regular and modified diets according to standardized recipes and spreadsheets.
- Interacts with the residents and residents’ families in a caring, friendly manner and works to meet resident’s dietary wants and needs.
- Ensures employees are properly on-boarded, trained, and held responsible to the expected standards.
- Assists in ordering, receiving, and storing food.
- Follows sanitary guidelines and oversees daily and assigned cleaning duties.
- Responsible for coverage of shifts due to call-ins and absences.
- Ensures a team culture that promotes a safe, fair, and cooperative environment.
- Exemplify being a role model by maintaining professionalism in the workplace, motivating employees, communicating, and maintaining good working relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside provider agencies.
- Works in conjunction with director and is able to work independently as needed to assure a smooth workflow and optimum use of facility resources.
In this full-time position the hours will primarily be 11:00 am – 7:30 pm with every other weekend off. As a full-time team member, you can take part in our many benefits including:

Education, Experience, License & Certification Requirements: - High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred
- Minimum age of 18
- 2-5 Years of food management experience in long-term care preferred
- ServSafe Certification
- Certified Dietary Manager preferred
