Overview

 

The Maintenance Technician service and maintain all plant equipment in a timely and efficient manner. Provide technical support to production operators throughout the plant. 

Typical tasks performed : Completes work from blueprints, drawings, other written specifications and/or oral instructions. Selects materials, equipment and tools to be used. Uses hand and/or portable power tools. Sets up and operates a limited range of shop equipment and machines of each trade, working to close tolerances and uses appropriate standard and specialized measuring and testing instruments. May be required to perform "other tasks" as necessary .

Responsibilities

  1. Performs the responsibilities and tasks they are assigned with the general guidance of the Maintenance Leaders.
  2. Documents equipment discrepancies in accordance with shop standards.
  3. Maintains a safe and clean working area and environment.
  4. Requisitions parts for equipment breakdowns.
  5. Uses equipment technical manuals.
  6. Adheres to electrical safety standards.
  7. Works closely with automation technicians or electricians who maintain the machine’s electronic components.
  8. Use protective equipment such as hardhats, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protectors and belts.
  9. Examines work orders and converses with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.
  10. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks using checklists to optimize machine inspections, such as checking, cleaning, and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.
  11. Sets up and tests industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
  12. Maintains equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, and tests.
  13. Operates equipment to demonstrate proper use and to analyze malfunctions.
  14. Adjusts working parts such as drive belts, pulleys, drive chains, and sprockets, using hand tools or power tools.
  15. Scrapes and cleans units or parts using cleaning solvents and equipment such as buffing wheels.

  1. Completes assigned work correctly and on time.
  2. Ability to follow up on multiple projects simultaneously.
  3. Uses problem solving skills effectively.
  4. Stays actively busy throughout the day and documents all work performed daily.
  5. Completes all preventative tasks assigned in a timely manner.
  6. Follows the assigned schedule and is on the production floor with the radio at the start of each shift.
  7. Follows attendance policy. Observes department call-in procedures. Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks.
  8. Maintains a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers.
  9. Exhibits teamwork and willingness to help others.
  10. Follows dress code and maintains a professional appearance.
  11. Can be relied upon to complete assigned tasks.
  12. Complies with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
  13. Works within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
