The Academic Coaches (one position per discipline- English, Math, Science and Foreign Language) are responsible for planning and implementing dynamic, engaging, empowering project-based courses as part of our 6-week summer program for area high school students.
The Upward Bound Academic Coach will be responsible for developing curriculum, designing lesson objectives and daily plans, manage classroom environments, conduct parent/guardian outreach, track attendance, and complete student evaluations. The Science and language course will culminate in a presentation of the students’ projects and the coach will evaluate their project based on a rubric. The English and Math will be evaluated on their pre/post diagnostic assessment, writing assignments and math assessments.Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and Upward Bound Site Coordinator, the Academic Coach will be responsible for the direct instruction of enrichment courses for the Upward Bound Academic Academy students in the content areas of English, Math, Science, and Foreign Language through these essential functions:

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Bachelor's degree in a related with two (2) or more years of experience working with middle or high school students in an educational setting or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
