This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Nutrition Education Associate, under general supervision, plans and conducts nutrition education programs for targeted audiences. Organizes and works closely with local agencies serving adults, schools, and other organizations in low income communities and works with extension colleagues for referrals to the program. The work location for this position is 3100 Main Street, Houston, TX 77004.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
Responsibilities:
Organizes and works closely with local agencies serving adults, schools, and other organizations in low income communities and works with extension agents to co-facilitate county events and activities.
Implements and evaluates effective county educational in-depth outreach programs in Childhood Obesity, Nutrition, Youth and adult programing, Obesity, Food Resource Management, Food Safety and Physical Activity.
Uses approved SNAP-Ed, curricula to teach youth and adult participants knowledge and behaviors related to Nutrition.
Promotes leadership and personal development among program participants. Delivers workshops and food demonstrations face to face and via online platforms.
Provides workshops, trainings and food demonstrations through pre-recording programing.
Contacts appropriate individual and community partners to schedule classes for SNAP-Ed; uses scheduled time to complete daily records of group classes, time sheets, mileage, and other required reports within the job responsibility.
Maintains confidentiality of all program reports and records and keeps them in a secure location; collects required pre/post surveys from youth and adults for data entry.
Participates in all training activities designed for the SNAP-Ed Program.
Participates and assists in college-wide events, activities, committees and performs other duties inclusive as deemed necessary.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Six months of related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
