The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services is seeking applicants for the position of Manager, Accounting/Financial Services, Region 6 Accounting . This position is located in Macon City, Bibb County, Georgia . This IS NOT a work from home position.

Pay Grade: M
Manages the accounting and financial operations of a unit, department or agency. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.
This IS NOT a work from home position. Role and Responsibilities - Provides daily leadership and supervision to the overall operations of the Field Fiscal Services Unit.
- Provides management level functions including budgetary control and reporting.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of regional accounting office.
- Analyze and reconcile accounting data and transactions.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain budget and financial records for the department or unit.
- Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and team orientation.
- Apply generally accepted accounting principles in recording financial activity in accounting systems and varied subsystems.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND Three (3) years of professional level experience in accounting and/or a closely related fiscal activity, One (1) year of which in a supervisory, administrative or lead worker role.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience: - Two (2) years of supervisory experience in accounting and/or related fiscal activity.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Good communication skills, written and oral.
- Ability to read and interpret financial reports.
- Knowledge of job-relevant policies and procedures at the state and federal levels.
