Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Law Attorney to join our team in the dynamic DC Metro area. As a Construction Law Attorney, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal services and counsel on a wide range of construction law matters. Your expertise will be instrumental in resolving disputes and representing the company at all stages of construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, modify, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and related agreements.
Assist in the administration of commercial construction projects.
Prepare correspondence and claims on behalf of the company.
Possess a deep understanding of commercial insurance issues affecting construction projects.
Demonstrate expertise in:
Mechanic's lien laws
Stop notices
Prompt payment issues
Payment and performance bonds
Commercial insurance issues affecting construction projects
Assist in preparing claims for contract extras, change orders, delay damages, time extensions, defective work, and understanding substantive law surrounding these issues.
Assist in resolving construction claims and disputes regarding changes, delays, defects, torts, payments, bond claims, and liens.
Exhibit exceptional writing skills, interpersonal skills, and a thorough grasp of practical issues affecting construction projects.
Capably interface with the company, clients, and vendors, demonstrating professionalism and competence.
Possess familiarity with AIA Contract Documents (preferred).
Qualifications:
Five or more years of legal experience with commercial construction contracts and/or commercial construction litigation. Litigation experience is a plus.
Current knowledge of the construction industry.
Licensed attorney with a valid license to practice law in the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Exceptional time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Expertise in prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities effectively.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment.
Additional Position Details
Part-time (20-25 hours per week)
Remote work arrangement available
