Job description
job summary:
An industry leading electrical motor manufacturer is looking for a Product Development Engineer to join their team near Hauppauge, New York. This company has been established for over 100 years serving the Aerospace & Defense industry all over the world. This position will lead electric drive system development for electric motors (brushed/brushless DC, stepper, ACIMs) and/or next-generation electrical machines.
The salary is commensurate with experience up to $125K plus excellent health & retirement benefits.

responsibilities:
- Analyze customer requirements and specifications, identify potential design challenges and develop innovative solutions or mitigation strategies
- Develop and design electric machines to performance specifications/requirements
- Conduct analysis and simulation of machine performance and reliability
- Perform trade studies to enable down-selection of designs
- Support control algorithm, calibration, diagnostic development during system and dynamometer testing
- Assist with design of experiments S/DFMEA, DFM development
- Participate in customer/supplier joint technology development projects
- Support programs from concept to production implementation phase
- Foster engineering team development and collaboration in areas of machine design optimization
- Support technology development process and deliverables
