Job description

As a Helpline Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting consumers, family members, and providers in accessing the resources they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Responsibilities:

Engage with Compassion: Respond to live calls from consumers, family members, and providers on the CHAMP Helpline, offering a compassionate and supportive ear during extended Helpline hours.

Information and Advocacy: Provide information, education, advice, and navigational services, offering appeal and complaint representation to empower consumers and providers in utilizing health insurance and care effectively.

Record Keeping: Maintain thorough case records, documenting services provided, advice given, appeals, and referrals, ensuring a comprehensive and organized approach to support.

Identify Systemic Issues: Collaborate with senior CSS staff and stakeholders to identify systemic trends or practices adversely affecting clients, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Training and Presentations: Conduct trainings and presentations to diverse audiences, including consumers, family members, advocates, and providers, contributing to community education and empowerment.

Material Development: Prepare training materials and fact sheets as needed, ensuring clarity and accessibility in all communications.

Adaptability: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative spirit.

Job Requirements:

Professional Qualifications: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) preferred.

Language Skills: Written and spoken fluency in Spanish or another language strongly preferred.

Experience: Minimum of one year of experience assisting consumers and/or advocates on health insurance, health care access issues, or providing assistance to individuals with mental health or substance use disorder needs preferred.

Communication Skills: Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and persuasively, while maintaining detailed notes of all communications.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word. Experience with Salesforce or similar databases is a plus.

Salary and Benefits:

This position is union-represented by local 1199 SEIU with an annual salary of $75,200. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage is provided.
