Job description
Director of Athlete Performance Primary Purpose: The Director of Athlete Performance is responsible for leading the Pacific Athletics Athlete Performance program with a specific focus on strength and conditioning program design, implementation, and supervision for intercollegiate teams; teaching proper speed, agility, weight lifting and conditioning methods and techniques; motivating student-athletes to train, condition and perform to their highest potential.
Essential Functions: - Responsible for the overall management of the Athletic Departments athlete performance program
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and assigns sports for all Athlete Performance coaches.
- Identifies proper training levels and creates individual year-round training programs for student-athletes.
- Administers training sessions using coaching expertise to help reduce the risk of injury, ensure proper technique and manages time of sessions accordingly.
- Gathers and provides data to coaches and athletic administration regarding student-athlete strength and conditioning development.
- Educates student-athletes on nutrition and concerning the dangers inherent to illegal/banned performance enhancing drugs
- Identifies and responds to appropriate individualized training and conditioning needs for student athletes.
- Coordinates with the Sports Medicine office on injury prevention and rehabilitation programs
- Oversees weight room operations which include daily maintenance, repairs and organization.
- Coordinates special projects such as camps, special fundraising events, community outreach, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree.
- Five (5) years of experience in weight training and conditioning at the intercollegiate or professional level.
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, Sports Psychology, Kinesiology, Health Performance.
- USAW level 1 certification.
Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
- Advanced knowledge of exercise science/physiology, athletics strength and conditioning practices and coaching techniques.
- Proficient in and comfortable with public speaking.
- Initiative and strong communication skills to work with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to assess athletic skills in student-athletes and develop action plans for desired results.
- Ability to motivate students to achieve expected results.
- Experience in management of staff.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding and knowledge of best practices to ensure student-athlete wellness.
- Basic computer skills including basic proficiency with MS Office.
- Solid knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of standing and walking. Occasional sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Frequent lifting in excess of 50 pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work performed primarily in a gymnasium or clinical environment
. Outdoor and indoor work will be necessary on a regular basis. A non-traditional work week, hours, and days will be required to fulfill department needs. Expected to work weekdays, and weekends and may include holidays. Extensive travel is required to support student-athletes in-season athlete performance program.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range: $66,560.00 - $90,960.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
