We are recruiting a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team of health care professionals. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will participate in the functions of the clinical help desk, including high level patient and doctor interaction, pharmacist verification of prescriptions, and current and future clinical endeavors. The Clinical Pharmacist provides clinical pharmacy services to the company and consumer through the appropriate evaluation of physician orders and safe and efficient dispensing of medications, supplies, and administration equipment. The Clinical Pharmacist may supervise the activities of pharmacy support personnel, as well as quality control and performance improvement procedures.

Benefits: Position responsibilities:
  1. Uses available resources to gather information on drugs, equipment, and patient monitoring.
  2. Acts as a resource and consultant to physicians, referral sources, and consumers regarding potential adverse reactions, and interactions, related to drugs dispensed, proper use of medications, administration supplies, and administration equipment.
  3. As a clinical expert, the clinical pharmacist stays knowledgeable of current clinical issues, industry practice standards, safety concerns, and accreditation standards and incorporates them into daily practice.
  4. Maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and as mandated by federal and state requirements.
  5. Conducts clinical quality checks such as PV1 and PV2, for prescriptions.
  6. Calls physicians offices for prescription clarification when needed, provides clinical advice regarding medication treatments, and obtains any and all information to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe dispensing of medications to the patient.
  7. Engages patients in detailed clinical counseling on all aspects of their medication regimens, disease states and issues or concerns that arise.
  8. Reports events to appropriate parties by required timelines in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations and Ardon policies.
  9. Directs activities of Call Center, Order Entry, Production, and team members that relate to the Clinical Help Desk procedures.
  10. May be responsible for supervising, directing, and controlling licensed and non-licensed staff to protect patient safety and ensure that all staff are working within their scope of practice, licensing, and training.
  11. Is responsible for facility and pharmacy area security and oversight of pharmacy technicians and support staff, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  12. Responsible for proper receipt and storage of all drugs within compliance of federal and state regulations. 
  13. Is professional in conduct, ensuring accurate dispensing, while complying with prescription requirements, maintaining patient records, and reporting data as required.
  14. Provides on-call support as requested to ensure security of pharmacy, proper medication storage, and continuous access to pharmacist services.
  15. Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with prescribers.
  16. Adheres to all state, federal, and local laws pertaining to drug dispensing and patient information, as well as company policies and procedures.
  17. Obtains certifications and pharmacist licensure in additional states as requested to meet business needs.
  18. Completes quality control checks on prescriptions to ensure all policies, procedures, and laws are followed.
  19. Takes prescription orders over the phone from physicians, and pharmacies.
  20. Provides patient specific consultations such as clinical assessments or program consults.
  21. Answers the Clinical Help Desk phone as soon as possible.
  22. Utilizes the phone software program responsibly to ensure optimal customer service.
  23. Maintains appropriate records and computer entry of prescriptions and patient information.
  24. Documents patient interventions with adequate detail in both clinical and non-clinical records as appropriate.
  25. Assists in the implementation of new managed care prescriptions and other projects as needed.
  26. Possesses specialized skills to accept, check, and answer questions concerning prescriptions.
  27. Possesses communication skills to work effectively with all internal and external customers.
  28. Remains dependable and maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  29. Possesses the ability to recognize needs of and express concern for people.
  30. Assists with employee training and preceptorship as needed.
  31. Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the companys quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts .
  32. Maintains active Oregon Pharmacist license. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence or mailing address, email, phone, or employment.
  33. Notifies supervisor within 1 business day of any changes to pharmacist licensure status in any other state where a pharmacist license is held.
  34. Complies with the companys Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.
  35. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required skills:
  1. Education/Experience:
    1. Required:
      1. Degree from college of pharmacy
      2. Active Oregon Pharmacist license
    2. Preferred:
      1. Four to six years related experience working in a pharmacy.
      2. One or more years related experience working in a specialty pharmacy.
      3. Certification in Specialty Pharmacy

  1. Maintains continuing education requirements.
  2. Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  3. Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Must be able to express oneself, detect, perceive, observe, and assess information exchanged in a variety of communication methods.
  5. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer applications.
  6. Must be able to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory as it relates to patient disease states and medication therapy.
  7. Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  8. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  1. Working conditions
    1. Work is performed primarily at a desk, with extensive keyboard and telephone work in a stationary position.
    2. Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of the standard work week.
  2. Contact with others:
    1. Internally with Ardon employees across multiple departments.
    2. Externally with patients, prescribers, prescriber agents, payers, and plans.
