Research assistant / trainee

Job description

We are interested in bringing together specialized knowledge from various scientific and engineering disciplines and applying them to solve real-life issues. We are currently looking for eager students and volunteer trainees to assist in the development of a point-of-care diagnostic device for rapid detection of infectious diseases through quantification of target bioagents, including biomarkers, bacterial pathogens, and viruses in biological samples. The successful candidates will be intimately involved in every stage of the biosensing device development, including the design, prototyping, optimization and validation of the device and assay. This position is an unpaid internship position aimed at active undergraduates in the Boston/Cambridge area.

Responsibilities

-Follow protocols in lab to produce prototypes and assay reagents.

-Test devices and assays with varying sample types and targets.

-Assist with basic lab duties and responsibilities.

-Assist with data collection and analysis.

Qualifications

The student should be currently enrolled in a STEM major and/or have previous experience with lab work. Experience with device fabrication, chemical synthesis, molecular biology or engineering are ideal.
