Job Purpose
Under the general direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, provides construction, renovation, and maintenance services for corporate facilities. Leads and manages a small team of Corporate Maintenance Helpers, Janitorial and Cafeteria Staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates activities of maintenance staff engaged in maintenance and construction activities such as carpentry plumbing, electrical wiring, painting, and other construction/maintenance activities.
- Supervises the chef and cafeteria staff to ensure satisfactory and sanitary food services are provided.
- Is responsible for regular maintenance and repair of building utility systems such as heating, ventilation, plumbing, and for regular structural maintenance.
- Designs, plans or assists in planning renovation/modification projects, which may be complex, to meet specific department or research needs or to correct building problems, requiring an understanding of structural design and department needs.
- Is responsible for all phases of renovation/modification projects from initial plans to final completion, including purchase of materials, contact with outside vendors, scheduling of work, supervision, modification of original plan and follow up to resolve any problems that arise.
- Provides expertise and makes recommendations regarding feasibility and cost-effectiveness of requested renovations or modifications.
- Monitors condition of buildings and develops a schedule for routine maintenance.
- Responds to emergencies and facilitates emergency repairs in a timely manner.
- Purchases all materials and supplies for maintenance and renovation projects; maintains standing orders with vendors.
- Serves as a troubleshooter for problems that arise regarding safety of building or laboratory facilities.
- Performs related duties as required.

- Direct oversight of 6 team members
- Indirect oversight of 25 team members

Required
- Minimum of a HS diploma
- 5-10 years of experience and demonstrated skill in a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and a broad knowledge of mechanics
- 5+ years supervisory experience, leading and managing a small team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- This role does have oncall requirements for 24/7

- Must be able and willing to be on-call.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime.
- Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
