Position Overview:
The Global Research and Technology Center in Kennesaw, Ga is seeking a n E nvironmental H ealth and S afety Manager . This role reports to the S ite Director and has one direct report. This role will work close ly w ith s ite l eadership and s taff to ensure uniform application of EHS related policies and practices, and communicate incidents or policy changes.
The EHS Manager develops and assists in the implementation and coordination of policies, procedures and programs to protect and promote the highest standards of EHS within the facility. In addition to being a laboratory resource, strategic partner and site representative, the position provides hands-on, pro-active participation in addressing day-to-day issues and concerns . The incumbent should identify opportunities to strengthen the site’s culture of safety and actively engage staff at all levels in the site’s safety mission.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate or participate in safety orientations, committee meetings, incident investigations, M anagement of Change reviews or other safety related events.
- Train personnel via live safety meetings or by coordinating online learning.
- Lead medical surveillance for annual certifications for occupational health such as fall protection, forklift operation, etc.
- Assist with maintaining emergency response system, including the planning & execution of emergency drills and training scenarios, and coordinate Emergency Response Team training and organization.
- Participate in internal audits at the site and throughout the region.
- Actively monitor regulatory activity associated with changes in legal requirements that have the potential to impact site operations.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation and calculations associated with the facility’s environmental impact and legal requirements.
- Act as point of contact for regulatory agencies with regards to permitting or performance of the organization to the permit requirements.
- Lead and manage site safety committees including Emergency Response Team, Kennesaw Safety Team, Subject Matter Expert program, SIF Review Committee, and Green Team.
- Partner with regional and global EHS for implementation and management of policies and procedures.
- Manage safety metrics for global R&D labs for reporting and shares best practices among sites and from the global EHS group .
Minimum Q ualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety , Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, or related field required
- At least 10 years of experience in EHS in an industrial setting
- Extensive knowledge and skill in development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs/activities and procedures
- Experience with environmental regulations including hazardous waste, radiation, lasers, and waste water
- High degree of proficiency in computer software applications with a systematic approach to policy & procedure documentation
- Ability to address large groups for presentations and training
- Ability to interpret regulations and apply the content to the physical operations ongoing in the work environment
- Exper ience in change management and building a safety culture through influence and engagement technical staff who are balancing project demands and be a safety advocate throughout the research center
- Creativity and innovation for implementation of new programs and employee involvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- EHS experience of 5+ years in lab and R&D environment.
- Master's Degree in Occupational Safety , Environmental Health, Safety Engineering or related field
- Professional certification e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
