Job description

Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing duties required to maintain the building, grounds, facilities, and equipment to acceptable standards. Function as a mechanic in the installation, maintenance and repair of the facility, its utilities, equipment, and machinery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facilities equipment including fire protection equipment, compressed air systems and hydraulic systems.
• Install/remove furniture, furniture systems, and panel systems.
• Clean and repair interior and exterior of building to include painting, replacement of ceiling tiles, floor maintenance and other related repairs.
• Layout, construct/fabricate and maintain/repair plant and facility equipment. Operate and maintain compressed air and water systems.
• Operate company vehicles and power equipment related to landscaping and grounds maintenance to include trucks/power landscape equipment/tow motors.
• Assist with the validation of specific facility equipment as required.
• Perform inspections of company equipment such as ladders, fire extinguishers, powered industrial vehicles.
• Maintain effectiveness when major changes in the work tasks or environment occur; shift to meet rapidly changing priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or directed. Work on special projects as they arise.
• Maintain assigned equipment and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion.
Work Environment
• Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
• Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects up to 35 lbs.
• Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.

Knowledge and Skills
• Thorough knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical principles and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and/or processes.
• Experience in or understanding of the maintenance and repair of air compressors, pest control programs, housekeeping, HVAC&R, fire protection systems, chilled water systems, boilers, and vacuum pumps. Coordinate with external contractors.
• Knowledge/skills in MS Office, CMMS, and mechanical systems.
• Flexible with work schedule and able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, emergency situations and adjust work schedule on short notice, when needed, to support plant operations or when requested by supervisor. Ability to meet requirements of on-call process.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or 4-year trade school certificate required. An associate degree from an accredited college or university, or journeyman status is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance and industrial mechanical, electrical or similar systems.
